ELM (Education for Life and Ministry) is the adult education arm of the Uniting Church in Australia (NSW and ACT Synod). On our website you'll find information about ELM, details of resources, courses we offer, events coming soon and more.

About ELM

ELM has been involved in the education, especially of lay people within the NSW Synod of the Uniting Church for more than 25 years. You might like to read some more about ELM's history, values and mission, or our philosophy of education.

ELM is one of four schools located at the Uniting Church Centre for Ministry in North Parramatta. A map of our location is available if you want to travel to see us.

Lots of things are happening at ELM! Our news page will keep you up-to-date with upcoming events, new resources, where ELM staff are travelling round the state, and any changes to the ELM team. Those of you who are RSS-savvy can subscribe to the feed. To see details of scheduled events, go here.

Events

Whenever we schedule a new course or event we list details on our events page. You can also access our Google Calendar, or register for events. Online registration now also allows for online payment, securely by credit card.

ELM Programs

ELM has a number of programs which it schedules regularly, or can run 'to order' when requested by Presbyteries or Congregations. These include Lay Preachers' Schools, Understanding the Sacraments, To Have and To Hold, Leadership and Eldership training, Worship Expos, Breaking Open the Scriptures and more!

Resources

ELM has downloadable resources for use by Lay Preachers, POD candidates or mentors and others. Some recent additions to our resources list include studies based on the Moderator's Vision Statement for the Synod, and a book of excellent work by Lay Preacher School candidates.

Downloads

If you're inspired by our events page to attend a course or event, registration forms are available for download. You may want to download these registration forms to print out transport information, session outlines or other general information, even if you intend to register online. There is also a Scholarship form to apply for assistance with the costs of study with ELM, and publicity posters and postcards for advertising purposes.
